Community Room Capacity
Maximum comfortable seating ranges between 40-50 adults without tables, 30-35 seated with tables. Special situations should be discussed with the library’s business office during business hours Monday through Thursday 8:30 am -5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Reservations for the Community Room can only be made through the library’s business office. Reservations cannot be made more than three months in advance. Library staff have scheduling priority. Apply here.
The Community Room can be rented during open hours which are: Monday through Thursday (8:00 am -8:00 pm) and Friday and Saturday (9:00 am – 4:00 pm). All groups must vacate 15 minutes prior to the library closing.
Light refreshments, such as cookies and sandwiches, may be served in the Community Room. Plates of a disposable nature must be used. All beverages should be in covered containers. NO open containers and NO red colored beverages are permitted. NO alcoholic beverages of any kind are permitted. Groups are required to leave the room in clean condition and must clean up after themselves. Please contact library staff if there is a major spill or any other damage that requires immediate attention.
Supplies & Decorations
Each group using the community room must supply its own materials for their meeting. The Library will not supply any materials. No staples, tacks, tape or nails may be used to attach anything to the walls of the community room. No paint, glitter, confetti, or sparklers may be used or affixed to the walls.
The rental fee is $10.00 per hour. A security deposit of $50.00 will be required before room rental and will be refunded following the use of the community room provided that there is no damage to the room or any library property. Rental Fee and Security Deposit are required to be paid prior to room rental. Additional fees may be assessed to replace or repair any damages to the room. The agreement may be cancelled at no cost up to 24 hours prior to the time of the room rental. Payment is accepted by cash, check or credit card. The main desk staff on the first floor will accept your payment, give you a receipt and provide entrance to the room. Invoices can be mailed and paid in advance. NO REFUND will be administered if you do not inform the library of cancellation or changes 24 hours before your scheduled meeting. The library requests as much advance notice of cancellation as possible so that the room’s use may be provided to another group.
If technology is required, such as laptop connection, projector, audio, or DVD player, a fee of $10.00 will be charged. Wi-Fi is provided without charge. Please inform the business office 48 hours prior to room rental for use of room technology.
Organizations holding meetings assume responsibility for damage to the room and its contents. (Name of individual/organization/group/sponsor) shall indemnify and hold harmless the Cambria County Library, its board of directors, director, employees, volunteers, and patrons from and against all claims, damages, losses and expenses, liability arising in connection with or related to rental of the community room.
The Cambria County Library takes no responsibility for personal possessions left on premises during or after any room rental. A lost and found box is located at the Circulation desk. Items will remain in the lost and found for up to 14 days. If an item is found by the Cambria County Library, every attempt will be made to return any recovered item to its rightful owner.

Ongoing Used Book Sale
Helene Krantzler and the late Reverend Stephen Slavik founded the Beaverdale Public Library in 1965. It was first located in a rented building at 313 Stewart Street. Local citizens and the Barnesboro Library donated books, and the Beaverdale Civic Association built shelves.
The first librarian was Olive Dezelon Drager, followed by Violet Prudhoe, Elizabeth Gerko, Ann Andrykovitch, Danielle Mock, Bernadette Headrick, Michelle Hughes, Agnes Kuska, Jill Crum, and Elizabeth Strayer. The present librarians are Lorrie Smith, Melinda Jerome, Eileen Kuhn and Bernadette Headrick.
Because of inadequate facilities, a new building was constructed on Jefferson Avenue in 1988. The late Victor Maslar supervised the planning and construction of the library with volunteer help provided by the local citizens. A fund drive was held and major contributions were received from the Beaverdale Industrial Development Fund, Dr. & Mrs. Sidney Goldblatt, the David Glosser Foundation, and the Beaverdale Civic Association. Contributions were also received from former and current Beaverdale residents. Dr. & Mrs. Sidney Goldblatt, and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Krantzler donated the two lots of ground.
The year 2000 brought more changes for the library. The addition of a children’s room and an outdoor reading area was made possible by donations from the residents and a very generous contribution from former resident Mr. Larry Phillips and his wife Pam. The new children’s room is named “Maggie’s Room” in honor of Mr. & Mrs. Phillips’ daughter. Mr. Edward Jereb, an architect and former resident, donated his services and designed the addition to resemble a coalmine tipple to honor the coal miners who worked and raised families in Beaverdale and nearby communities. The Construction Group, Inc. of Krayn and Nemeth Landscaping of Salix were responsible for the successful completion of the project. The outdoor reading area and garden are dedicated in memory of Frank and Christine Phillips, parents of Larry Phillips and his sister Donna Jean Phillips. A special feature in the garden is a coal car that was built by Walter Prozialeck of Dunlo. Because of the hard work and generosity of many, Beaverdale now has an attractive and spacious library for everyone to enjoy.
